  Head to Head

Rohan Ferguson wants a top performance against Queen's Park to make up for last week's disappointment.

The Diamonds crumbled to defeat against bottom side Peterhead after taking a second half-lead, and Ferguson feels he and his team-mates should have done more to impose themselves on the game.

The young goalkeeper explained: "I don't feel we played the way we usually do, we didn't get on the ball as much.

"Obviously when we played Alloa there was a bit more sitting in and defending, and I felt like we carried that mentality into the Peterhead game when we should have been controlling things a lot more."

Ferguson is quick to point out that the visitors also worked hard for their victory.

"Take nothing away from Peterhead, on the day they did deserve it.

"But at home, when we take the lead we should be pushing on and making sure we get two or three."

Queen's Park come to Airdrie on Saturday, and the Hampden men have already lost to the Diamonds twice this season.

Sean McIntosh scored the deciding spot-kick in a penalty shoot-out following a thrilling 3-3 Betfred Cup draw in July, and two weeks later Airdrie returned to take all three points in the opening league game of the season. Russell, Fitzpatrick and Brown were the scorers in a 3-1 win for the Diamonds.

Rohan reckons that Gus McPherson's men showed they are a decent side in those fixtures.

"We know that they're a good team, but we don't need to worry about them if we play the way we know we can."

Head Coach Kevin McBride was pleased to report a clean bill of health for his squad, and added: "Queens are a big side, so we'll need to match their physicality, and we'll need to move the ball quickly.

"It's another home tie and it goes without saying our only aim is to win the game."

Referee Greg Aitken is the man in the middle.
