Cowdenbeath match preview
4th May 2012
AIRDRIE know they can secure a place in the promotion play-offs at Cowdenbeath.
The Blue Brazil will be presented with the Irn-Bru Second Division championship trophy tomorrow.
But the Diamonds head to Central Park with a mindset of strictly business with fourth spot in the table up for grabs.
Both Airdrie and Stenhousemuir are tied on 51 points with one match of the regular season remaining.
However, the Diamonds have a better goal difference and scored more goals than the Warriors who host Forfar Athletic at Ochilview.
Should Airdrie win 1-0 at Cowdenbeath, Stenny would need to beat the Loons by four clear goals to overhaul them in the race for the final play-off slot.
Manager Jimmy Boyle said: "It's going to be a great game for us. The atmosphere in the ground will be fantastic.
"Cowdenbeath will be up for it. They will be getting presented with their trophy, so they will not want to lose the match.
"The priority is focusing on our own performance and getting the right result.
"If we beat Cowdenbeath, then we don't really need to worry about what is happening elsewhere."
Airdrie have three players suspended for tomorrow's match with Jamie Bain, Willie McLaren and Ryan Donnelly all banned.
In addition, midfielders Graeme Owens and Phil Johnston are injured although the gaffer expects Derek Holmes to be fit.
