Chairman's thoughts - Airdrie v Albion Rovers
7th September 2011
AIRDRIE are preparing for their first league match in over 21 years with neighbours Albion Rovers.
Ahead of this weekend's SFL2 clash at New Broomfield, Diamonds chairman Jim Ballantyne shares his thoughts on the opening month of the season and looks forward to 'derby day'.
He said: "The start of the season has been up and down for us and that is clear to everybody.
"We've produced some good performances but also had some terrible performances. I think the big thing for us is to find some consistency.
"I don't think there's much between all of the teams in the Second Division. I thought East Fife were quite good against us but then Dumbarton went out and hammered them.
"I'm always hoping for more in terms of points. We've dropped some silly points but we're capable of going out and getting wins.
"I can't wait for the derby. It's something we've never experienced at our ground formally and I think there will be a great atmosphere.
"Hopefully the two towns will get right behind their teams and turn out in big numbers."
