The DW Gym Challenge
8th September 2011
How fit are you? Or how fit do you think you are? Well, here’s your chance to prove to yourself and everyone else one way or the other...
Pre-season training may be a distant memory to our players, given that 2011-12 is well under way. But it is still essential that they keep up their regular fitness training, as well as their ball-work and football coaching sessions. Our picture shows some of the squad hard at work over at the DW Gym in Coatbridge, where Airdrie FC has a partnership arrangement.
Not only does this agreement afford access for all our squad to the full range of the gym’s facilities, it also includes great deals for Airdrie supporters. And on top of that, at Saturday’s North Lanarkshire derby, there is a further incentive for supporters of both teams to benefit from the equipment, the swimming pool, or at least the cafe, at the DW Gym.
For 15 mins pre-match (2.35-2.50) and 10 mins at half-time, spectators are invited to take the challenge. Rowing machines will be set up at the edge of the pitch for spectators to try their hand and technique. Do you fancy yourself as the next Steve Redgrave? How far can you row in 60 seconds? There are prizes for the best performances, both over- and under-35s, with a free month's membership at the gym (including use of the pool, sauna, etc) for the winners, and two match tickets for the Airdrie v Stenhousemuir match on 1st October for the runners-up.
Pre-register to take part by contacting the club via the contact page and providing your name, contact details and age, starting your message DW Gym Challenge. Or turn up on the day and register at the front of the main stand prior to taking your turn.
