East Fife match preview

9th February 2012

MANAGER Jimmy Boyle wants his players to stand up and be counted at East Fife tomorrow.

Airdrie go to East Fife desperate for the win which would re-ignite their SFL2 promotion play-off push.

The Diamonds produced a poor performance as they lost 3-0 to Stenhousemuir at New Broomfield last Saturday.

And Boyle is determined to atone for that display when his players visit Methil for a crunch clash.

He said: "If we had played anywhere near as well as we did in the last couple of games, we would have been fine. But we didn't do that.

"The big thing for me is we didn't create enough even though we had a lot of attacking players out on the pitch.

"Stenhousemuir deserved to win without needing to work hard for it."

Boyle added: "Performances like that will not get us near the play-offs.

"We're not in the position we want to be in but we are there because of performances like this.

"The players have got to stand up and be counted."

Airdrie are missing defender Cameron MacDonald who will serve the second game of a two-match ban.

The manager may also look to freshen up his side with a daunting trip to Arbroath scheduled for Wednesday night.

Saturday's match will be refereed by Mr Mat Northcroft.
