Manager's View - Livingston

14th July 2011

AIRDRIE manager Jimmy Boyle is remaining upbeat despite his side's Ramsdens Cup exit.

The Diamonds lost 5-0 to Livingston in the first round of the competition at New Broomfield on Saturday.

But the gaffer is staying positive as he counts down to this weekend's Scottish Communities League clash with Stirling Albion.

A potentially lucrative second-round tie with an SPL club is at stake and Boyle is desperate for victory.

He said: "If you can find positives in a 5-0 defeat, then you are obviously doing some things right. There's no sense in dwelling on what happened.

"We will focus on the positives this week and get ready for Stirling."

The gaffer will have David Lilley available again following his Ramsdens Cup suspension with Boyle hopeful of welcoming back winger Phil Johnston and midfielder Graeme Owens from injury.

Meanwhile, teenage striker Scott Sally has enjoyed a training stint with Rangers. The 18-year-old has been part of the Diamonds' first-team squad since the beginning of last season.
