Stirling Albion match preview
14th July 2011
AIRDRIE welcome back three key players for their Scottish Communities League Cup tie tomorrow.
David Lilley is in line to make his debut against Second Division rivals Stirling Albion with Phil Johnston and Graeme Owens also in the squad for this first round match.
The Diamonds are hoping to move on after their 5-0 opening-day defeat to Livingston in the Ramsdens Cup.
But manager Jimmy Boyle admits the Binos will pose a real threat with both teams eyeing a place in the second round draw.
He said: "We're going into this game stronger than we were last weekend which is very pleasing.
"We know it will be a difficult game. Stirling had a good win last weekend and Jocky will have them well-organised."
Meanwhile, the manager has confirmed that midfielder Jamie Stevenson is training with the squad while he sorts out his future.
The 27-year-old spent most of last season at New Broomfield and was recently on trial at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Boyle added: "We have got Jamie in training with us. We've spoken to him and told him what the situation is at this moment in time."
Former Dumbarton keeper Andrew Duncan, who signed for the under-19 squad last Thursday night, may again be listed as a substitute. Airdrie can confirm that goalie Gianluca Corvi has left the club.
