Forfar match preview
16th March 2012
AIRDRIE could close the gap to the promotion play-off zone to four points tomorrow.
The Diamonds host Forfar in a vital Irn-Bru Second Division match for both teams.
Jimmy Boyle's men know a win would move them four points behind fourth-placed Stenhousemuir if the Warriors lose at Cowdenbeath.
And they could climb two places in the table should East Fife and Brechin City fail to beat Dumbarton and Albion Rovers, respectively.
Extending their unbeaten record to four games will be another priority for Airdrie when the Loons come calling.
Confidence is high within the squad after Cameron MacDonald's goal sealed a 1-0 derby-day win at Rovers last weekend.
Manager Boyle said: "I thought we deserved to win the game and that was all down to hard work and a determination not to get beat.
"We need more of this in the next eight games if we are to have a chance of getting into the top four.
"We're now undefeated in three games and our performances against Rovers and Cowdenbeath, and during the second-half at Arbroath, have been good. We just need to go on a winning run now."
Airdrie are at virtually full-strength with top goalscorer Ryan Donnelly back from suspension.
David Somers is Saturday's match referee.
