Shea's special day!
18th March 2012
It was a special day for yesterday's match mascot, 3 year old Shea Stevenson.
Shea is midfielder Jamie Stevenson's son, and he was keen to get on the ball and show the crowd that he's inherited daddy's talents.
Picking the ball up on the halfway line, the young playmaker confidently strode forward, using all his skills to beat a number of Forfar players before being cruelly hauled back by his dad. It was clearly a red-card offence, but the referee unbelievably chose to turn a blind eye.
Much to the disappointment of the New Broomfield crowd, Shea was withdrawn from play shortly after that, but he received a well-deserved standing ovation from the Airdrie faithful as he reluctantly left the pitch. Proud mum Lea was waiting at the tunnel to collect Shea, and of course dad Jamie went on to help the Diamonds to a 3:0 win over Forfar.
Shea was unavailable for comment after the match as he was fast asleep, but after such an exciting performance the New Broomfield faithful will be dying to see him pull on an Airdrie shirt again!
Well played, wee man!
