Forfar match preview
23rd December 2011
AIRDRIE will be looking for their second away win of the season at Forfar Athletic on Boxing Day.
The Diamonds are hoping to bounce back from last weekend's 3-2 defeat to Brechin City when they head to Station Park.
The match will represent Airdrie reaching the halfway mark in their Irn-Bru Second Division fixture list.
And manager Jimmy Boyle admitted that results and performances must improve in the second half of the season if the dream of promotion is to be realised.
The New Broomfield boss said: "The games we've played against Forfar so far have seen lots of goals scored. It was 4-4 in the match here but we lost 3-2 up there at the end of August.
"We know it is going to be a hard game but I'm confident in the players I've got and believe we're good enough to get a result.
"Results have not been good enough in this quarter and that is majorly disappointing for us.
"We need to get things sorted out quickly. We need to start pushing towards the top end of the table."
On the personnel front, the club have released 20-year-old Northern Irish centre-back Craig Hill by mutual consent.
Defender David Lilley has a hip problem but could be available. Striker Derek Holmes missed the Brechin match with an ankle injury and will be assessed closer to kick-off.
