JIMMY BOYLE says he wants the pressure of scoring goals taken off Ryan Donnelly's shoulders.

The 20-year-old has been in great form this season and found the back of the net 25 times so far.

The highly-rated striker will attempt to add to his tally when Airdrie travel to Gayfield tomorrow for a date with second-placed Arbroath.

But Boyle has revealed that he wants to see players in every area of the pitch chipping in when it comes to hitting the target.

Donnelly wasn't among the goalscorers last weekend when the Diamonds recorded a comfortable 4-1 victory over Stirling Albion.

​

Instead, John Boyle grabbed his eighth of the season, Paul Lovering bagged his sixth, Willie McLaren netted his fifth and Scott Sally got his first.

​

The manager said: "It's good to see other people scoring other than Ryan and we want that to continue over the coming weeks.

​

"I'm also sure that Ryan will score a lot more goals between now and the end of the season."

 

Airdrie have taken only one point from a possible six in their two previous meetings with Arbroath this term, losing 3-1 on their last visit to the north-east coast.

​

However, a first win in four games against the Binos has increased confidence as the squad eyes a top-four finish.

Boyle added: "It was a really good response from the players following on from those defeats.

 

"There wasn't a nervousness about our play. Everyone was looking forward to the game as they knew they had let themselves down over the past couple of weeks."
