Raith Rovers v Airdrie preview
4th January 2013
Jimmy Boyle has selection issues to sort out ahead of Airdrie's fifth meeting with Raith in as many months.
Both teams have already faced each other twice in the Irn-Bru First Division and twice in the William Hill Scottish Cup.
The Fifers currently hold the advantage in the head-to-head with two wins. The other two matches have been draws.
A trip to Kirkcaldy is never easy but the Diamonds will make it on the back of successive draws at home to Partick Thistle and Cowdenbeath.
However, Boyle will check on the fitness of a number of players in his squad before the journey to Stark's Park.
Keeper Kenny Arthur is definitely out so Grant Adam will again start while Gregor Buchanan's ankle was to be assessed for damage on Thursday evening.
Jamie Bain and Jamie Barclay were suffering from illness and missed the Cowdenbeath match. Midfielders Sean Lynch and Jack Boyle are laid up on the treatment table.
Boyle was happy to avoid defeat against the Blue Brazil but is aware a form boost like Dumbarton's, the Sons have taken six points from the last six available, is what is needed.
"I thought we were the better team but I'm disappointed as I don't think we created enough chances going forward," the manager said.
"Fair play to Dumbarton; we need to go a run like them and win a couple of games in a row."
