CONGRATULATIONS ON WINNING AUGUST'S PLAYER OF THE MONTH!
Thanks!  It’s a good feeling and we had a good start to the season but obviously on a personal level it was good to get an award.

DID YOU EXPECT TO DO SO WELL PLAYING AT A HIGHER LEVEL?
I didn’t expect to do so well I would say just in the summer I put my head down and stuck in and went and got myself fit to give myself a chance.  Obviously the first start at the beginning of the season gave me good confidence so it took me onto the next couple of games and I’m quite pleased with my form just now.

WHAT MADE YOU RE-SIGN FOR AIRDRIE?
I felt I just had a point to prove.  I spoke to the gaffer and felt I should have played more games than I did and he felt my fitness wasn’t up to standard to play as much as I should have and I just wanted to prove that I could be there.  That was my challenge.  I still have to prove myself over the season and keep us in the league.

DOES THIS SEASON FEEL DIFFERENT IN ANY WAY?
We’ve got different targets now: trying to stay in the league and it’s going to be harder because obviously we’re playing against better teams.

YOU'VE GOT NEW STRIKE PARTNERS IN PAUL DI GIACOMO AND RECENTLY SIGNED JACK BOYLE, WHAT'S THAT LIKE?
Jacko (as in Di Giacomo) is a bit like myself where as Jack (as in Boyle!) likes to play just off the striker.  He’s a good talent and brings something different to the club, a wee bit like Willie McLaren, playing off the cuff.  Jacko like myself is an out and out striker so it’s good to have competition and keep us all on our toes.

ANOTHER NEW PLAYER IN THE SQUAD IS GREGOR BUCHANAN, WHO SIGNED FROM JUNIOR SIDE BATHGATE THISTLE. AS SOMEONE THAT'S MADE THE STEP UP, DO YOU THINK MANY PLAYERS AT JUNIOR LEVEL CAN FOLLOW YOUR EXAMPLE? 
Definitely, there’s a lot of players who can definitely step up.  Gregor’s got great qualities and he’s still a young boy; you can see he’s got the ability to step up and play in the first team.  Lilley and Cammy are obviously the first choice in the team just now but Gregor will prove that he can do the job whenever he’s called upon.

U19 PLAYER OF THE YEAR RICKI LAMIE HAS GONE ON LOAN TO BATHGATE (AND GRAEME GOODALL HAS GONE TO SHOTTS). WHAT EXPERIENCE WILL THEY GAIN FROM JUNIOR FOOTBALL?
The experience they get will be great because there’s so many great teams, especially as they’re playing in the top division at Junior football.  There’s lots of big games and big crowds.  It’ll be a great experience for them coming back and if they ever need to then they’ll be more than equipped to play in the first team.  The Junior football is the same as the First Division - everybody wants to win.
