Lamie scoops Ramsdens Soccer Stars cash
8th April 2013
Defender Ricki Lamie put his fitness to the test recently at the Ramsden's Cup Soccer Stars event, and walked away with £1,000 in his pocket and a further £2,000 going towards the Club's Youth Development Programme.
The 19-year-old represented the Diamonds in a series of fitness tests in the contest, which saw every SFL club invited to take part.
Over a course of events which included a 1km Wattbike challenge, a speed/skills challenge, 90 seconds rowing, 90 seconds skipping and a 60 metre sprint, Ricki streaked ahead of the competition and finished in first place a stunning 8 points clear of his closest rival, Albion Rovers' David Crawford.
Accepting his prize from SFL Chief Executive David Longmuir, Ricki said: “It’s a good wee bonus for myself and a bonus for the club so I’m delighted all round.
“It’s a brilliant club for the youth and there’s a few guys even younger than me coming through so if we can support them then it would be good.”
