Dumbarton v Airdrie preview

19th April 2013

Manager Jimmy Boyle wants Airdrie's players to battle in the remaining three games of the season.

The Diamonds were relegated from the Irn-Bru First Division last Saturday following a 2-1 defeat at home to Partick Thistle.

With the 12-12-18 league reconstruction proposal failing at a vote of SPL clubs on Monday, it appears Airdrie will be playing SFL2 football next season.

Boyle is planning big changes this summer but is staying focused on the final three matches against tomorrow's opponents, Dumbarton, Livingston and Dunfermline Athletic.

He said: "I want us to win every game. That's what I want us to do every week and I'll continue to get the players ready.

"We have got to keep going and still have a job to do. The teams we're facing still have something to play for.

"We know it has been a disappointing season. People have left the club to go to pastures new or because they haven't been good for the place.

"We've had young boys coming through. I feel sorry for them as it has been tough on them but they've worked really hard."

Airdrie will be missing striker John Boyle who has a knee injury. Nathan Blockley, Jordan Kirkpatrick and Gavin Griffin are struggling for fitness as well.

Paul Di Giacomo has left the club by mutual consent. Club captain David Lilley has gone to Spain to be with his father who is unwell.
