Airdrie v Dunfermline preview
24th August 2012
JIMMY BOYLE is expecting a terrific atmosphere inside New Broomfield for tomorrow's visit of Dunfermline.
The Diamonds gaffer can't wait for Saturday's showdown as Jim Jefferies' Pars head to the home of the Irn-Bru First Division leaders.
Six points from two games mean Airdrie are at the summit of the table on goal difference to the delight of the club's supporters.
Wins over Dumbarton and Livingston have increased confidence within the squad ahead of the home double-header against Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath next weekend.
The Pars kicked off their bid for promotion back to the Clydesdale Bank SPL with success over the Blue Brazil at Central Park but slipped to a 1-0 loss at home to Partick Thistle in their last outing.
However, Boyle knows how tough a nut Dunfermline will be to crack but is looking forward to a pulsating 90 minutes which will hopefully generate the right result.
He said: "It's going to be a fantastic game for us and I cannot wait for it. The fans will be up for it and the players will be up for it on the back of the win at Livingston.
"Dunfermline have had a victory and a defeat in the league but they have quality players who will make life difficult for us.
"A lot of their guys were in the Premier League with them so that shows what we'll be up against. But if we perform as we did at Livingston, we won't be far away."
Airdrie have injury concerns. A late check will be made on Willie McLaren but Grant Evans (thigh) and Ryan Donnelly (ankle) are expected to miss out.
