"Goals will come". That's the vow from midfielder Liam Watt as he and his Airdrie team-mates gear up to face League One new boys Peterhead.

The 20-year-old was a standout in a more attacking midfield role at Ochilview last Saturday, but was left frustrated by Stenhousemuir's late win. 

​

"I feel we were hard done by, as we played a lot better than the previous week. We pressed better, passed better and made a lot more chances. 

​

"Goals will come, we just need to keep making the chances!" 

​

Newly-promoted Peterhead make their first trip South to New Broomfield since 2011's Division 2 play-off, but Watt knows he can expect another tough battle. 

​

"No game will be easy, but with everyone giving 100% I feel we can win. If we start the way we finished last week, there's no reason why we can't." 

​

The Blue Toon got off the mark with a 1-1 draw at home to fellow new boys Stirling Albion last week, dangerman Rory McAllister earning the draw with an 85th minute equaliser. 

​

The former Brechin striker will have to be closely watched by the Diamonds' defence, in a week which saw one of their own forwards hitting the headlines. 

​

Liam Coogans made the move to English Championship side Huddersfield Town, and his former team-mate Watt is pleased for him. 

​

"It's a great move for him and everyone in the team is delighted for him. He has a lot of talent, as we've seen with his goals. 

​

"He's still young and has plenty of time. He has a bright future, hopefully he sticks in and works hard and goes far". 

​

Sticking in and working hard were both factors in last week's much-improved performance - but with nothing to show for their efforts, Gary Bollan's men will be looking to add goals to their game this week.
