Trust members return home
1st October 2015
The intrepid Supporters' Trust representatives have returned home from their adventure in Mongolia - but not before becoming the first team to visit Mandolgovi and play against a local club!
The Trust were treated to a special day as they played on the newly built 3g pitch in the Gobi desert. A crowd of local support gathered around the pitch to watch the historic occasion. They were treated to pre-match entertainment laid on by the local governors office following discussions with the Honorary Consul to Mongolia in Scotland, David Scott. Before kick off both teams exchanged gifts and sang the national anthems.
The game was played in good spirits with both sides looking for a victory. With the game tied 2-2 at half time it took a late goal, with just minutes left, to determine a winner. Mandalgovi claimed a 3-2 win on home turf leading to scenes of celebration from the home support.
Despite the loss for the Airdrieonians Trust, it was a great occasion for the visitors, who gifted football strips and 4 gers (Mongolian traditional homes) to homeless families from the town.
