Eddie Wolecki Black update
6th March 2016
Airdrieonians FC has tonight released an update on the health of our Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black.
Eddie fell seriously ill during the half-time interval of yesterday’s 1-3 League One win at Cowdenbeath.
He was taken by ambulance to Kirkcaldy's Victoria Hospital and tests there confirmed that he had suffered a stroke in the dressing-room.
On Saturday night Eddie was transferred to a specialised stroke unit at Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital where his condition has stabilised and he is now recuperating.
The Club will now give Eddie, his wife Emma and their family all the help and support they need to get him back on the road to recovery.
Diamonds chairman Tom Wotherspoon said: “In the fullness of time we look forward to seeing him back in the job he loves but for now all that matters is his return to good health.
“Over the weekend we have been inundated by kind messages of support from throughout the coaching community and Scottish football as a whole that have shown how highly Eddie is regarded.
“We would like to thank everyone who contacted us, coaches and players, fans of our own club and supporters of others, and we will pass on all of the good wishes to Eddie in due course.”
