Stopper Gorman signs pre-contract
10th March 2016
Airdrieonians FC are delighted to announce the signing of Irish central defender Joe Gorman on a pre-contract agreement that will see him join the Diamonds in June this year.
The gifted 21-year-old former Crewe and Inverness Caley Thistle defender spent last week training with the Club and impressed Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black in bounce games.
He had been a free agent after leaving English Conference club Maidenhead United in February but registration rules mean he has been left in limbo and can only start to kick on with his career next season.
Joe was part of the travelling party to Cowdenbeath for Saturday’s 1-3 League One win which was overshadowed by Eddie suffering a stroke during half-time.
As the gaffer begins his battle back, his deal to see the left-footed stopper brought on board has been finalised and Joe said: “In the short time I have known the boss I could see how detailed and professional he was about his work.
“I love his philosophy on football and the way we train and when he has fully recovered I can’t wait to work together next season.
“Airdrieonians are offering me a chance to kick-start my career and it is one I will give everything to make the most of.”
