Diamonds get behind hospice appeal
12th November 2015
On Saturday, Airdrieonians fans get their chance to help start the journey towards a £9million refurbishment of the St Andrew’s Hospice.
The charity’s Capital Appeal are holding a bucket collection at the ground before and during this weekend’s clash with Dunfermline at the Excelsior Stadium.
It’s a huge game and one specially chosen for this venture by the club so they can give every shred of help they can for such a deserving cause.
Louise Arthur of the St Andrew’s Hospice said: “We are thrilled that the Club have given us this opportunity as we begin on a big fundraising journey.
“Every penny counts for the Hospice and we look forward to building our relationship with the Club in the years to come.”
The Hospice have featured on the front of the Diamonds’ jerseys in the past and the Club - who will emblazon the charity’s logo on the front of the matchday programme - are delighted to be able to help as a huge fundraising quest begins.
Diamonds chief executive Iain King said: “It’s such a great cause and the Hospice plays a hugely significant role in the town we serve.
“This will be the start of a co-ordinated effort to help in the Capital Appeal.
“A huge part of our work this season has to be to put our footprint back into the community and this is a start. Every penny the fans can give will make a difference.”
