David Cox is relishing life on the wing at Airdrie, and the 26-year-old fans favourite says the Diamonds are ready to continue their good form at Cowdenbeath.

Gary Bollan's men can get back into the play-off positions if results go their way on Saturday, and Cox is in no mood to look back.

​

"I think we can continue our run of form on Saturday. The last two games have shown how good a team we can be.

​

"We've matched most teams in the league and yeah, we've had a few bad results - but that's going to happen.

​

"Overall I think we stand as good a chance in this league as anyone."

​

The two games in question were both 3-1 victories, over Brechin City in the Scottish Cup and last weekend at Stranraer on league duty.

​

Having previously operated in a forward role, Cox's switch to the right of midfield - along with the good form of fellow winger Nicky Cadden - has brought a balance to the team and a potency on the counter-attack.

​

Cox has three goals under his belt already this season, but he's happy to be in a position where he's more likely to play a supporting role.

​

"I'd definitely say I prefer it on the wing. I can play either side which is good for me and Cads as we can alternate during games and can become a problem for teams. 

​

"Right wing is where I played as a youngster and throughout my career at Killie." 

​

Airdrie already have a win over Cowdenbeath under their belt as they prepare for the trip to Central Park.

Cox opened the scoring in a ding-dong battle at New Broomfield in September, which saw George Hunter and Liam Watt secure a late turnaround to win the game 3-2.

​

Saturday's match sees the beginning of a busy festive period for the Diamonds, with four matches in fifteen days, but Coxy is taking it one game at a time.

​

"I wouldn't say we have set targets as such.

​

"We just go out to do the best we can and try and pick up the three points."

​

Jim Lister's cameo at Stair Park - his first appearance in an Airdrie shirt since March - was the icing on the cake for the travelling support as goals from Prunty, Morgan and Watt secured the three points, and the big frontman will be keen to get more game time under his belt as he continues his rehabilitation.
