Jamie Bain would love to repeat his deciding goal against Dunfermline - but will settle for being part of the winning team.

The 24-year-old utility man netted the only goal of the game when the sides met in front of BBC Alba cameras at a rainswept East End Park in January.

​

It was a rare defeat for the Pars as they romped to the League One title, but the Diamonds fans had cause for a double celebration that evening as the club announced their plans for full-time football.

​

As Allan Johnstone's champions prepare to visit Airdrie this weekend, Bain has his eye on a home win.

​

"It would be brilliant to get another goal against them - and it would be even better to get a win.

​

"Every side has a bogey team, and I think theirs is Airdrie. They've done very well on winning the league, but whenever we come up against them it's a different story.

​

"Here's hoping it's the same again on Saturday and we can give the fans something to enjoy."

 

The Diamonds' poor run of results came to an end last Saturday with a dominant win over struggling Forfar Athletic.

​

With only two games remaining, Airdrie are still in with an outside shout of a promotion play-off place, but Saturday's victory ensured they won't be involved in the tussle at the bottom of the table.

​

Bain was pleased with the team performance.

​

"Everyone played their best and gave everything, because we knew a win would secure us for next season.

​

"Going into the last two games knowing we're safe takes a bit of pressure off us and lets us play with a bit of freedom."

​

Only two Airdrie wins and a huge slip-up from Stranraer can now see the Diamonds make the promotion play-offs.

​

Jamie admits it's a long-shot, but stresses that circumstances haven't exactly been normal at the club this season.

​

"If we don't make the play-offs, I wouldn't call it a failure with everything that's being going on.

"It would be disappointing though, because we have a great bunch of lads here and we know ourselves that we should be pushing into the top four".

​

Danny Lennon has a full squad for the match with the exception of Rangers loanee Jordan Thompson, whose season is over with an ankle injury.

​

Dunfermline may see another opportunity to give some fringe players a run out as the Pars visit New Broomfield for Airdrie's final home match of the season.
