Diamond geezer on Sky's Soccer AM
23rd October 2015
Airdrieonians superfan Mark Allison will sport the Diamond with pride tomorrow as a guest on iconic Sky football show Soccer AM.
Mark, whose "F*** Cancer" charity has done so much for sufferers and their families, is part of a guest list that includes Oasis legend Noel Gallagher and former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel.
It’s a day to remember for Mark, who is battling pancreatic cancer, and has been an inspiration to so many with his defiant fight against the disease.
The dyed-in-the-wool Diamond - whose tireless work raised the funds for Sammy’s Shelter which houses our disabled fans - heads to London for filming with his new Airdrie kit donated by the club at Saturday’s 1-0 win over Brechin City.
And he smiled: “I’m looking forward to sporting the Diamond on national TV.
“However, the opportunity only came about about through fellow Airdrieonians fan Shaun Basu - who works for Sky - who managed to sort it out for me.
“It’s an unbelievable gesture and it is greatly appreciated.”
Mark has organised concerts, memorabilia auctions with sports giant Adidas and done a power of other work to promote the fight against cancer.
Airdrieonians chairman Tom Wotherspoon revealed: “I actually met Mark at the Champions League Final in Berlin last season and got to know his story well before taking over the club.
“He is a helluva brave man and faces up to life in an admirable way, we were delighted to help out in any small way with the strip and I know he’ll be a star on Soccer AM.”
