Airdrieonians FC can confirm that midfielder Liam Watt has this afternoon joined Brechin City on an initial 28-day loan.

The 22-year-old midfielder moves to Glebe Park with immediate effect and will be part of the City squad for their trip to Peterhead tomorrow.

Airdrieonians Chief Executive Iain King said: “Liam is out of contract this summer and has been offered the chance of full-time football with Airdrieonians next season. He has rejected that offer.

“In talks with the Head Coach this week, as is his right, Liam indicated he would prefer to pursue his career elsewhere.

​

“The reality of modern football is that since January 1 he has been free to talk with other clubs and after he decided to move on it is best for now for both parties to resolve the situation quickly.

​

“We will monitor the situation and look at Liam’s position again before the end of his contract.

“As a player bred through the ranks, Liam has been an excellent servant of the Club. We thank him for all his efforts so far this season and wish him well in his spell at Brechin.”

The terms of Liam’s loan deal mean he will not be able to play against the Diamonds when the clubs clash at the Excelsior on Saturday March 12.
