Airdrie will face Motherwell U20s away from home in the second round of the Irn Bru cup.

As part of this season's rebranding of the challenge cup competition, Premiership 'Colt' teams have been introduced, and were largely successful in the opening round.

Today's Hampden draw saw Airdrie paired with their Lanarkshire rivals in an intriguing tie.

​

First team coach Kevin McBride told airdriefc.com: "I think it's a good draw.

​

"Motherwell won the Youth Cup last year so it will be a tough test for us. There's a lot of young talent coming through there.

​

"We're looking forward to it."

​

The match is provisionally scheduled to be played at Fir Park, though U20 home venues are subject to change. Confirmation will be announced as soon as possible.
