Rohan Ferguson says Airdrie are up for the challenge at Brechin after showing what they can do last weekend.

The Diamonds turned around a one goal deficit to win 4-1 against Peterhead at New Broomfield with a storming second half performance.

​

And goalkeeper Ferguson was delighted with the win.

​

"Saturday was brilliant. The boys needed it after a tough few weeks.

​

"The second half just shows what we're capable of, we just need to keep that consistency now."

​

Rory McAllister had given Peterhead the lead in the first half, and with Airdrie striking the woodwork and having efforts cleared off the line, the Diamonds fans could be forgiven for thinking it wasn't to be their day.

​

But Jack McKay's equaliser was followed by a quickfire second from Ryan Conroy to put Mark Wilson's men ahead, with Andy Ryan adding the third a few minutes later. Substitute Scott Stewart put the icing on the cake with a stunning fourth goal in stoppage time.

​

Ferguson (19) explains the turnaround: "The tempo was raised in the second half and everyone was desperate to get on the ball.

​

"There were a few words said at half-time, which was well needed. The boys obviously reacted and dug in."

​

A solid performance by November's SPFL Player of the Month Ferguson was helped by a new look defensive partnership in the shape of Simon Mensing and Jordan McGregor.

Rohan has been impressed by the pair.

​

"Simon's been brilliant since he came in. He's such a huge character and he's played at a great level.

"Jordan's settling in well, and he also played very well on his debut."

​

The win saw Airdrie move back into second place in League One, with a trip to fourth placed Brechin City on the horizon.

​

Darren Dods' men have suffered from disappointing form in recent weeks, winning only two of their last ten games. But with ex-Diamond Liam Watt rejoining the Angus club in the transfer window, fans of the Glebe Park side are looking to get back to winning ways and consolidate their play-off position.

​

Ferguson says he and his team-mates are focussed on the task in hand.

​

"You want to win every game and Saturday will be no different.

​

"It's been a good week training, and after last Saturday everyone is up for it."

​

Jack Leitch misses out as he serves the final part of his two-match suspension. Jordan McGregor is being closely monitored by the club's medical team following an ankle injury picked up on his Diamonds debut, and a comeback is not being ruled out.
