Joe Gorman
10th July 2016
Season 2016/17 gets underway this Friday night with a Betfred Cup tie against Partick Thistle at New Broomfield.
Five new faces in the Ravenscraig changing room took time out from training to speak to airdriefc.com this week, as we asked #AreYouReady?
With five days to go till the big kick off, we catch up with defender Joe Gorman...
HOW DID YOUR MOVE TO AIRDRIE COME ABOUT?
It came about through my agent. It was always my main aim to stay full-time. Eddie invited me along to a bounce game against Next Level Sport and after the game he said he wanted to sign me. It was never in doubt, I knew I wanted to sign.
DO YOU HAVE ANY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE OF AIRDRIE?
One of my pals used to play here, Danny Rogers. He told me it’s a great club - a real family club - and he said the pitch is nice to play on as well!
WHAT ARE YOUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF THE CLUB?
It’s very good, I’ve enjoyed it so far. We’ve got a good bunch of lads to be fair, there doesn’t seem to be anyone who doesn’t fit in to the group, everyone will fight for each other and the team.
WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO THE TEAM?
I’d say a combination of composure, ruthlessness and competitiveness. At times when we’re playing backs-to-the-wall, I’m not afraid just to put my foot through the ball. I’ll hopefully get a goal or two as well.
WHAT ARE YOUR AMBITIONS FOR THE TEAM AS A WHOLE?
To win the league. Simple.
