Adam Brown says confidence is high in the Airdrie camp as the Diamonds prepare to face Brechin City.

The Angus side topped the league after a 3-2 home win over Airdrie in September, and have been there or thereabouts ever since.

​

The Diamonds' recent form has been excellent, lining up an intriguing tie at New Broomfield on Saturday.

​

Last weekend's win at the home of rivals Albion Rovers made it three in a row for Airdrie, but it was all change off the field during that period as new head coach Mark Wilson replaced Kevin McBride in the dugout.

​

Midfielder Brown says the changes haven't affected the playing squad.

​

"It's fine, we've just kept our heads down and kept working. Training has been great, and we've all been working hard.

​

"There hasn't been a massive change in what we're doing, so it's been good."

​

Brown played his part in last Saturday's win at the Exsel Group Stadium, providing the free kick which led to Iain Russell's goal.

​

The 21-year-old felt it was a significant win.

​

"It was a hard fought three points. It was good to get that third win in a row, especially at Rovers after they had won at our place. It was important for us to go to them and win.

​

 

"It might not have been the most enjoyable game of football but the most important thing was the three points."

​

Those three points made it nine out of nine for Airdrie, and as well as raising the Diamonds into play-off contention, Brown feels it has had a psychological effect.

"It's a massive confidence boost, it's second to none. It's three in a row, but it's also four wins from five.

​

"They've been big games against tough opposition, and to get a run going is good ahead of the league and cup games we now face."

​

As the squad prepare to welcome Darren Dods' Brechin on Saturday, Adam is expecting another tough battle.

​

"We know what Brechin are like, they showed their quality when we played them at Glebe Park. They'll be coming here looking to win the game.

"It should be a decent game for the spectators with two good attacking teams.

​

"We'll be looking to take the three points and we're confident. We've got to be after three wins on the bounce, we've been playing some good stuff over the last month or so."

Head coach Mark Wilson feels his side are well prepared for the showdown.

​

"Brechin have been doing very well this season, but we've worked hard all week in training so we'll be ready for the challenge."

​

The new Diamonds gaffer confirmed that defender Scott Stewart remains a fitness doubt, having had stitches removed from an ankle injury this week.

 

Kevin Schmidt returns from suspension and will be considered for the squad after a midweek run-out with the U20s development side.
