Scott Stewart wants to see more of the same from Airdrie as they head for Brechin buoyed by Saturday's derby win.

A late Sean McIntosh winner gave the Diamonds all three points after a ding-dong battle at The Exsel Group Stadium, and Stewart expects a similar match tomorrow night.

"It was good to get the last-minute winner in an eventful match - that's what you want from derbies.

​

"The last few weeks have been disappointing, not getting the results we wanted, but I feel we've played well at times without getting that wee bit of luck.

​

"On Saturday we played well and things fell our way too, so it was good to get the victory."

​

With Rovers pegging back Airdrie's lead three times, the Diamonds showed great spirit to win the match - something Stewart thinks will be required for the remainder of the campaign.

​

"You need that fight. When teams get level or go ahead, you need that determination to keep pushing like we did on Saturday.

​

"When we conceded we didn't let it get to us, we were motivated to keep fighting for the win. That's what we'll need for the rest of the season."

​

Airdrie have an immediate chance to build on Saturday's victory with a trip to Glebe Park tomorrow night to face Brechin City.

​

 

With the original tie postponed a month ago due to a waterlogged pitch, conditions are still expected to be difficult.

​

Scott says Saturday's match was the ideal preparation for two reasons.

​

"Any kind of win would have been a big confidence boost, but to do it in that manner over our rivals was exactly what we needed.

​

"It's prepared us in terms of the playing surface as well - the conditions will be similar, so it'll probably be a similar game.

​

"It's not easy to play on pitches like that, but we're ready to go again - and hopefully get another win!"

Diamonds head coach Mark Wilson is ready for a difficult 90 minutes against Darren Dods' men, who sit one point behind Airdrie, but have a game in hand.

​

"It's going to be another tough one, the pitch will probably be the same as Albion Rovers so we know what to expect from that.

​

"Brechin got a good result at the weekend too so they'll be looking to kick on from that, but I think if we apply ourselves and show the same battling qualities as we did on Saturday, then we'll be alright.

​

"I believe we can get another positive result."
