Diamonds go Down Under for Sponsorship

Everyone at the club is delighted to announce that we have clinched a unique two year sponsorship deal with Australian company Osprey Global Limited and its’ subsidiary, the Australian Oil and Gas College.

Osprey Global will have their name displayed on the back of the change shirts until the end of season 2017/18, while the East Stand at the Excelsior will see itself being renamed to the Australia Oil and Gas College Stand for a similar period.

Based in Brisbane, Osprey Global is an Integrated Competency, Recruitment and Training Provider specialising in Oil & Gas, Mining, Engineering, Construction, Rolling Stock, Infrastructure, Defence and Operations. They deliver a range of unique Recruitment, Competency & Training Solutions. The specialised services offered are backed by extensive knowledge and valuable experience regarding the safety & risk, environmental and regulatory requirements for their client's projects and facilities.

Meanwhile, The Australian Oil and Gas College (AOGC) is based in Darwin – in the Northern Territory – and is a ‘hub’ for competence, capability and training for the Australian and Asia Pacific region Oil, Gas and Maritime (OG&M) industry sectors, both off-shore and on-shore. It provides technical training and education for generic and specific Operations and Maintenance competence, capability and training for all job levels and disciplines, and has plans to enter the Scottish market within the next 2 years.

Dave Walker is the General Manager of Osprey Global and Chief Operating Officer of AOGC, and may be familiar to some. An avid Airdrieonians supporters since the early 80’s, and a veteran of the numerous Cup Runs and Prague, he migrated to Brisbane in 1996 where he now lives with his wife and 2 daughters.

Dave explained the reason for getting involved with the Diamonds. “Osprey and AOGC are extremely proud and privileged to be able to sponsor the club and to be in such a partnership with the Diamonds - this is a brilliant opportunity for us to show our colours in Scotland with regards to our global services and to be a small part of the Airdrieonians story, a club steeped in history that is in our hearts.

It is a tremendous achievement for the club and a massive boost for the town to secure Elton John to play his only Scottish gig in Airdrie, I couldn’t believe it when I read it, this really sparked our interest in getting involved with sponsoring the club, to be honest – where else would Elton hold his Wonderful Crazy Night Tour! I have had a few of them in the old stomping ground myself!

You can take the boy out of Airdrie but can never take Airdrie out of the boy!”

Commercial Manager Douglas Allsop commented further “Everyone at the club is thrilled and excited that Osprey Global have committed to a 2 year deal with us. It is real coup, and we can’t wait to see the signage up for the Australian Oil and Gas College Stand, which will certainly be a show stopper for Scottish League 1 football!

The deal has taken a few weeks to be cemented, with various skype calls and email exchanges through the night for both parties due to the time difference. However, Dave has been hugely accommodating and flexible throughout the whole process, and we look forward to what we are sure will be a long and mutually beneficial partnership.”
