Kieran MacDonald sees tomorrow night's clash with Motherwell U20s as a chance to get Saturday's defeat out of the Diamonds' system.

Defender Kieran has been ever-present in Airdrie's six competitive fixtures this season, and the 23-year-old is hoping to erase the memories of Saturday's loss to Livingston with a positive result at Fir Park.

Looking back on the weekend's scoreline, MacDonald said: "Obviously it's only the second game of the season, and I thought we played well.

​

"We passed the ball about well as a team but we need to cut out the individual errors."

​

The opportunity to stamp out those errors comes in the shape of Tuesday night's Irn Bru Cup tie against Motherwell U20s.

​

MacDonald agrees that a quick return is a good thing.

​

"It's great to get back playing as soon as possible after a defeat.

​

"The boys are hopeful of getting a win to get everyone's confidence back."

​

With the introduction of Premiership U20 teams into this season's challenge cup competition, the draw has thrown up a derby of sorts - but the 'colt' side are something of an unknown quantity. 

​

Kieran is familiar with one of their players, Dylan Mackin, who spent time on loan at Airdrie last season.

​

"Dylan's the only one we know, but we know he's a good player and the rest of them will be good too. 

​

"They won the Youth Cup last year so we know it's not going to be an easy game."

​

First team coach Kevin McBride was pleased with Saturday's performance, but wants to make amends for the result.

​

"We're expecting a reaction from the boys.

​

"The performance was decent enough against Livingston but the result was disappointing so we'll look for a reaction and I'm pretty sure we'll get one."

Referee Michael Taylor is in charge of the Fir Park tie, which kicks off at 7:45pm. Admission is priced at £5 for adults and £2 for concessions, and Airdrie fans are located in the South Stand.
