Jack Leitch has his sights set on three more wins to see out the season and secure a play-off place.

 

With Livingston wrapping up the League One title a fortnight ago, Saturday's visitors Alloa Athletic made sure of a second place finish with a thumping win over Brechin City last weekend.

 

Meanwhile Airdrie were suffering defeat at the hands of Stranraer, and midfielder Leitch says the performance wasn't good enough after a fine win over Brechin the previous week.

 

"In the first half especially we were poor, it was a battle and we didn't adapt to it.

 

"We weren't as good as we normally are in possession, but I think when you take away the two mistakes we draw or win.

 

"Having said that, Rohan's saved us so many times this season that we can't put it down to that - we just need to move on to a massive game on Saturday."

 

Wasps boss Jim Goodwin has hinted that he may make some changes to his line-up ahead of the play-off fixtures, but Leitch insists that the Diamonds are in for a tough 90 minutes regardless.

 

"It's always difficult against Alloa. Even if they rest players, the boys that come in will want to do well and impress the manager ahead of the play-off games.

 

"Whatever team they put out it'll be a tough game, but we've beaten them twice and we're confident we can do it again."

Airdrie's most recent victories have come at home, while results have stuttered on some of the league's trickier surfaces.

 

With the battle for third and fourth place tighter than ever, Jack believes a strong start is important for the Diamonds on Saturday.

 

"Collectively we need to have the same attitude - to go and run, and win tackles and fight for each other. Then when the game settles down we have the players to go and create chances.

 

"We need to win, it's another must-win game for us. We have three games to play, and I think we need to go and win them all to be honest. We've seen all season that you can't predict anything in this league, and I think it's probably going to go to the last game.

 

"If we can put ourselves in a good position with a win on Saturday, we'll see what happens with the last two games."

 

Head coach Mark Wilson says his players need to forget about last weekend's display, and replicate the performance shown the previous week.

 

"We know we weren’t at our best at Stranraer, but I think we take huge confidence from the way we played at home against Brechin. We’ll be looking for more of the same against Alloa."

 

The Diamonds boss has a full squad at his disposal ahead of the crucial tie, which is refereed by David Lowe. The whistler previously officiated Airdrie's league opener, a 3-1 win over Queen's Park, and the recent midweek loss at Brechin.
