Mascot duties for brave Ava
21st September 2016
Everyone at the club is delighted to be welcoming 3 year old Ava Neilson along as the team mascot on Saturday.
Many of you will have already read of Ava in the local press in recent weeks. Suffering from a life limiting condition cause by a brain injury at birth, she is at risk of fatally choking at any minute if she is left on her own. The brave 3 year old suffers from Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, is hearing and visually impaired, and has no fine motor skills, so needs help even to play.
Her family are desperately raising funds to visit Panama City, where stem cell treatment is available and has been proven to improve the life of children similar to Ava. For loving mum Julie, attending the match on Saturday (her first football game since the old Broomfield!), provides Ava and her family a chance to experience something new, a welcome break, and of course, the chance to raise awareness of their urgent cause.
After being guests of honour at the Supporters Trusts’ recent fundraising gig for KitAid, £500 was donated to Ava’s cause. Collection buckets will be around before the match on Saturday and also at half time for fans to give what they can.

We sincerely hope this brave family enjoy their day, and we are sure that the beautiful Ava will bring the team luck!
