Darryl Duffy says Airdrie can be the team to end Raith's unbeaten home record when the Diamonds travel to Stark's Park on Saturday.

The on-loan St Mirren striker has led the line for Airdrie since joining at the start of January, and the well-travelled 33-year-old has been enjoying life at New Broomfield.

"I've settled in really well, to be fair. There's a good bunch of boys here which makes a big difference - and there's been a big turnover of players so I'm not the only new face in the changing room."

Bringing vital experience to a very youthful squad is a rewarding experience for Duffy, but the former Hibs man is feeling his age.

"I was just chatting to Josh Edwards and found out that I've got tattoos older than him - that was a first for me!

"Obviously I'm one of the more experienced heads at the club, and hopefully I can pass some of that on to the younger guys."

Also joining the club in January was fellow striker Dale Carrick, and Duffy feels the pair have forged a promising partnership already.

"Right from the first game, it only took us two minutes to combine and get a goal. The more we play together, the better we'll get.

"Apart from the Arbroath game where we played a slightly different system, we've been working together as a two, and I think you can see from the Stranraer and Forfar games that the understanding and the link-up between us is improving all the time."

The new look striker partnership combined again to give the Diamonds a win at Station Park last weekend, but now Stevie Findlay's men face a different prospect as they prepare to face Raith Rovers - who haven't lost a home game this season.

"It's obviously going to be tough, but records are there to be broken. Who's to say it can't be us who go there and do it?

"If we play the way we did in the first half against Forfar, and we can keep a clean sheet, then we're always confident that we can score a goal.

"If we can do that, there's no reason we can't come away with all three points."

Stevie Findlay is in agreement about the difficulty of the task facing his side, but the first team coach is encouraged by Airdrie's previous performance against the Kirkcaldy men.

"It's a tough place to go, but we've certainly competed against Raith this season.

"We were unlucky to lose to two late goals up there, and in the home game I thought we were terrific against them.

"For me, it's important to take the momentum from the Forfar game last week. We're going to have to be at our best, but that's what I'm asking for every week at the moment.

"We're looking forward to going there and giving our all."
