Club statement
November 15, 2017
The Board of Directors have honoured their commitment made to the supporters at the end of June, to maintain the operation of the Club whilst a buyer could be found for the controlling interest. This has been extremely challenging at times but we have continually strived to achieve this.
We have recently held a number of meetings with a prospective buyer of the Club. This prospective buyer, part of the ZLGroup, has now agreed terms in principal with the majority shareholder at the club, and is moving forward through due diligence with a view to concluding the transaction.
At a meeting today with the Club's main sponsor Holemasters Scotland Ltd, the preferred bidder laid out their plans for the Club and as a result, Holemasters have pledged to continue with their support of the Club after the forthcoming change in ownership.
In addition to this sponsorship support, Holemasters Scotland Ltd have also agreed to extend their involvement by purchasing an equity stake alongside the preferred bidder.
The McArthur family, owners of Holemasters Scotland Ltd. have already proved to all Airdrieonians fans that they have nothing but the best interests of the Club, the town and the community at heart when they stepped up to the plate and took the Main Sponsors role earlier in the season during the period of real uncertainty. Not only that, but in addition to this, they donated the back of the jersey, for which they had already paid, to Maggie’s cancer charity. Despite public statements to the contrary, it was established during the meeting that no other group had made contact with Holemasters regarding their involvement.
The ZLGroup are happy to work alongside Holemasters and enter into dialogue with any other local business that wishes to work together for the betterment of the club.
In the interests of clarity, the ZLGroup became interested in the club back in July and made a formal notification of interest on 21st September.
