Stevie Findlay's reshaping of the Airdrie squad continued today with Willie Muir and Ross Brown signing up at New Broomfield.

Goalkeeper Muir joins the Diamonds from Queen's Park, having spent two spells at Hampden either side of a short-lived move to East Fife.

​

Starting his career as a centre back, the 24-year-old joined Aberdeen from Mill United. After returning to the Hamilton-based amateurs as a goalkeeper, Muir made the switch  to Pittodrie once again before spells at Motherwell, Celtic and Ayr United. A move to Hampden followed in 2014 before signing for East Fife and returning to the Spiders shortly after.

Putting pen to paper on a six-month deal, Willie told airdriefc.com: "I'm looking forward to the challenge. When I spoke to the gaffer, everything he said about the club sounded great."

"I'm here to fight for the number one jersey - I want to make it my own and join the push for the promotion play-offs."

​

Willie was joined at his first training session by former Livingston and East Fife midfielder Ross Brown, who has also signed until the end of the season.

​

The versatile 24-year-old can play on the right or through the middle, and occasionally featured in defence during a six year stint at Bayview. After a short spell at the Tony Macaroni Arena, Ross was pleased when the chance of a move to Airdrie came up.

"It's been a tough first half of the season for myself with a couple of injuries, but I'm looking to put that behind me now and kick on.

​

"I'm a hard-working player, and hopefully I can chip in with a few goals from midfield and help the team reach the play-offs."

First team coach Stevie Findlay is happy to further strengthen his squad.

​

"I'm delighted to bring two more quality signings to the club. What we've tried to do in this window is to bring in players who will make us better in the areas of the park that we needed to strengthen. Although we lost at the weekend, I think everyone could see the ability that our two new strikers have, and these boys will add to that.

 

"Willie is someone I've known for the last couple of years, and I know he's very capable at this level. He has the right attitude and hunger and he wants to play, so he's here to push Rohan for the jersey.

"I'm delighted to get Ross in, he's a real box-to-box midfielder and he'll bring an energy and physicality to the middle of the park that we've maybe been missing.

"Both boys are here until the end of the season and we'll see how things progress from there."
