Scott Stewart hopes to be fit to face Arbroath on Saturday as Airdrie seek to make it two wins out of two.

The Diamonds' trip to Gayfield in October was unforgettable for all the wrong reasons as a dream start quickly turned into a nightmare, with the Red Lichties running out 7-1 winners despite Ryan Conroy's 12th minute penalty.

​

Stewart sat out last weekend's 2-0 win over Albion Rovers, but the midfielder is making steady progress as he seeks to overcome a back knock picked up against Ayr United.

​

"It's been getting gradually better over the past week. It was just from an awkward landing after I jumped for a header, so it's nothing too serious.

​

"It was frustrating watching the Albion Rovers game when I just wanted to be out there playing, but I was delighted that the boys got the result - it's always pleasing to win a derby."

​

With the final league placings taking shape, Airdrie have an important incentive when they travel to meet play-off chasing Arbroath - pride.

​

Stewart wants to see more of the same from the Diamonds after a professional performance against Rovers.

​

"We're going there looking to get a positive result - I don't think we can go out with any other mindset because Arbroath are a very good side.

​

 

"The last result up there definitely adds more incentive to put on a good performance."

​

Having recently put pen to paper on a contract extension at the Excelsior, Scott wants to end the season on a winning note and carry that into next season.

​

"I would hope that next year we'll be at the top end of the table looking to make the play-offs at the very least.

​

"From a personal point of view I just want to keep improving as a player by playing as many games for Airdrie as I can."

​

Aside from Stewart's possible recovery, manager Stevie Findlay is pleased to welcome back some of the ten players who missed last weekend's derby - although the Diamonds boss also has fresh selection worries to contend with.

​

Stewart (back), Josh Edwards (elbow) and Sean McIntosh (ankle) are all doubts for Saturday's squad, and Luke Watt remains sidelined through suspension.

​

Stevie added: "We'll go there and work our socks off and aim for back to back wins.

​

"Arbroath have had a good season, but we want to go there and do our best to finish our season on a high."

​

Barry Cook is the referee. His only other Airdrie match this season was August's Irn Bru Cup tie at Queen of the South.
