Stewart signs extension to Diamonds deal
February 22, 2018
Airdrie’s plans for the future received another boost tonight as midfielder Scott Stewart agreed a two-year contract extension.
Stewart (21) has captained the side in recent weeks, and his impressive performances since breaking into the first team in 2014 have seen him become a key player for the Diamonds.
Scott, the son of Airdrie legend Sandy Stewart, was pleased to commit to the club’s vision for the future.
“I’m delighted to get it sorted, and it’s great to get it done this early.
“The way the club is going, and the manager’s plans for next year, are ambitious and exciting - and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
Manager Stephen Findlay, who first brought Scott to the club as a 17-year-old, sees the signing as something of a coup.
“Looking at the current squad, Scott is one of the players we identified early as someone we had to get signed up. We’re delighted that he’s committed to us for two years, it’s a massive boost for the club.
“He’s the type of player who gives you everything, and he goes out there and plays for the jersey.
“He’s still got lots of potential, and we can only benefit from his commitment, his energy and his dedication to the club."
