Tom Fry felt that Airdrie were unlucky to leave Starks Park empty-handed - and the Welsh midfielder says the same application is required against Queen's Park.

The Diamonds gave a good account of themselves against league leaders Raith, but two goals in the last 15 minutes gave Barry Smith's side the win.

​

Former Bristol City and Motherwell youth Fry felt he and his team-mates were worthy of at least a draw.

​

"I thought we were absolutely brilliant up until the 80th minute. In that type of game you're just going in trying to get something, and we deserved a point.

​

"At times we've been playing reasonably well but haven't had any luck. Hopefully that can start to come our way as well and the points should keep coming in."

​

Fry joined the club last month after impressing in an attacking midfield role during a short trial spell. The 20-year-old is loving life as a Diamond.

​

"I'm really enjoying it. From day one the boys have been brilliant with me, and it's great to be playing senior games.

​

"I've been happy with the way I've been playing, that's seven games on the bounce for me now and I've played pretty much the full 90 minutes in each one.

​

"There's still more to come in my game, I'd like to get some goals and more assists - I think I've got three assists so far and I'd like to add a couple of goals before Christmas."
 

 

Despite some confident performances from Fry, Airdrie's form has stuttered in recent weeks - Saturday's defeat in Kirkcaldy was preceded by losses to East Fife and Stranraer after promising displays against Alloa Athletic and Albion Rovers.

With Queen's Park visiting on Saturday, the Diamonds have a chance to get back to winning ways against a side who haven't had an ideal start to their campaign.

Tom is keen to help Airdrie to the three points, and warns there's no room for complacency against Gus McPherson's men.

​

"People can expect you to be complacent when you're facing teams at the bottom of the league, but we have to treat every game the same.

​

"It's easy to go to the likes of Raith Rovers and work harder because you know you're facing the top team, but we have to treat Queen's Park the same way.

​

"We're desperate for the points, and if everyone works as hard as they did last Saturday I'm sure we can get a result."

Ryan Conroy and Adam Brown are still rated as highly doubtful for Airdrie, who welcome midfielder Jake Hastie back from suspension.

Referee Kevin Graham had a busy evening on his last visit to New Broomfield - the whistler sent off two Stranraer players in July's Betfred Cup tie.
