Adam Brown expects a battle in Tuesday’s New Year derby match at Albion Rovers, but says recent successes at Cliftonhill will boost the Diamonds.

 

Midfielder Brown recently extended his contract with Airdrie until the end of the season after battling back from injury problems.

 

The New Broomfield squad may be facing a shake-up in January as short-term contracts and loan deals come to an end, but the 22-year-old is glad he’s staying put.

 

“I’m very pleased to have extended my contract, I’m happy it’s settled and I'm looking forward to the second half of the season now.

 

“I’m not sure how many ins and outs there will be in January, but I’m expecting some changes to happen.

 

“Hopefully some additions will help us out going forward and make us an even stronger unit.”

 

Reflecting on the injury problems that have seen him sidelined for over two months, Brown is satisfied that his troubles are behind him.

 

“It’s been one of the most frustrating times I’ve had in football but I’m sure my problems are over now.

 

“I’m looking forward to getting back in the team and hopefully getting a run of games.”

With one start and four substitute appearances under his belt since his comeback, Adam would love a crack at Tuesday’s Monklands derby as the Diamonds visit Cliftonhill looking for a repeat of the victory in Coatbridge back in August.

 

“We’re expecting a tough game against Albion, it’s a hard place to go.

 

“It’s always a battle down there but hopefully we can continue the success we’ve had there in recent times.”

 

First team coach Stevie Findlay added: “We’re looking forward to the derby, and we’re feeling confident going into it but we know we’ll have to be at our best to come away with a positive result.

 

“These are never easy games, but we’ll go there and give our all for the fans.”

Ryan Conroy and Marc Fitzpatrick continue to miss out for the Diamonds. Jordan McGregor will be give a late fitness check after suffering a foot injury.
