We are delighted to announce the signing of 27-year-old midfielder Kyle Wilkie.

 

Kyle joins from East Fife, having previously played with Livingston, Morton and Hamilton Academical after graduating from the Stockport County youth academy.

 

A hard-working midfield player, Kyle brings creativity and versatility to the Diamonds’ squad.

 

Signing a one-year contract at the Penny Cars Stadium this evening, he told airdriefc.com: “I had a meeting with the manager back in May and he really sold the move to me - I knew then that I really wanted to sign here.

 

“It’s nice to be back with a couple of my former team-mates - and a couple of characters at that! I’m looking forward to working with them again, I’m a team player and I’ll give it my all.”

Airdrie gaffer Stevie Findlay was pleased to add another important piece of the jigsaw ahead of the new season.

 

“We’ve been chasing Kyle for a wee while, and he’s had a lot of people after his signature. He’s someone I’d identified early doors as a grafter and a creator.

 

“He can play off the left, in a three or as a number ten, and he’s got a fantastic left foot.

 

“As well as his creativity - which I don’t think you can have too much of in your team - he’s also a workhorse. I’m thrilled to get a player with his drive and energy.”
