Sabatini makes Diamonds loan switch
We are delighted to announce the loan signing of midfielder Griffin Sabatini from SC Dnipro 1 of the Ukrainian Premier League.
Griffin is a central midfielder with strong defensive and attacking qualities, and the Swiss national is very much viewed as a hot prospect as he plies his trade in the UPL.
Having made his first-team debut at the Dnipro Arena in recent weeks, the well-travelled 21-year-old will now join the Diamonds for the upcoming season as he seeks to advance his blossoming career.
Griffin told airdriefc.com: “Airdrie is a strong club packed with young talent.
“The fact that the Scottish game is very quick makes it the ideal place to develop as a player, to become more sharp and think quicker.
“I hope that my qualities can help the team to win the league - my strengths lie in my physicality, my dribbling, and my ability to hold the ball well under pressure.”
Club Chairman Martin Ferguson added: “My thanks go to SC Dnipro 1 President Yuriy Bereza for agreeing the loan.
“We believe this is a move that will benefit Griffin, SC Dnipro 1 and Airdrieonians.”
And Director of Football Stuart Millar said: “Griffin is an accomplished midfielder who is strong and good on the ball, but most importantly he has a great attitude and he was desperate to come here.
“We have been working closely with Griffin’s representatives and also my counterpart at Dnipro Andrii Rusol, to whom I am thankful for his professionalism and keenness to see this move happen.”
Griffin will join the squad for training on August 15, and we can’t wait to see him in the Diamond.
