Defender Quitongo checks in
We are delighted to announce that the club have agreed terms with former Dumbarton defender Rico Quitongo.
21-year-old left-back Rico spent two years with the Sons after playing youth football at Hamilton Academical and Hearts - two clubs where his father, Jose, made his name in Scottish football.
Signing up at the Penny Cars Stadium, Rico told airdriefc.com: “I’m absolutely delighted to get a chance at full-time football, and I can’t wait to get started.
“I hope we can go one step further this season, whether that’s promotion through the play-offs or the title.
“I know a few of the boys, I used to play ‘cuppy’ with Dycey at my gran’s - well, I used to be his ballboy! I know some of the others too, and I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the squad and getting started.”
Manager Ian Murray was pleased with his latest addition.
“Rico is a really good, solid signing. He adds more balance on the left along with Scott Agnew.
“He fits our criteria as a player who can improve us, and we’re looking to improve him too. I’ve no doubt we can, he has a great attitude and will be a welcome addition.”
