Sam makes Diamonds switch
We are delighted to announce defender Sam Wardrop as the latest player to agree terms on a deal with the Diamonds.
Sam (23) arrives after leaving Dumbarton, having joined the Sons last season following loan spells at The Rock from his previous clubs Celtic and Dundee United.
Capped at U16, U17 and U19 levels for Scotland, full-back Sam comes to Airdrie with an impressive pedigree.
Joining manager Ian Murray at the Penny Cars Stadium to sign a one-year-deal, Sam told airdriefc.com: “I’m happy to get this sorted - I’m very ambitious as a player, as I know the club and manager are here.
“Airdrie had a good season finishing second, and the only way to move forward from that is to win the title. I’m a winner, and that’s what I want to do.
“I’m looking forward to coming here and working with the players and the management.”
And manager Ian Murray added: “We’re obviously delighted to get Sam, who had a very good season at Dumbarton. I was impressed with their defensive unit last season, they were very solid and hard to beat.
“Sam comes in having been at big clubs in Celtic and Dundee United, and we feel this is a good platform for him to improve. We’re really happy to add more quality and balance to the squad.”
