We are delighted to announce the signing of 21-year-old goalkeeper Josh Rae, who joins the Diamonds from Queen of the South.

6’2” keeper Josh has also featured for Peterhead after spending time in the academy system at Hamilton Academical, Celtic and Leeds United.

Despite high-level interest from south of the border, Cumbernauld native Josh has opted for a move closer to home, and joins Airdrie on a one-year deal subject to SFA approval.

Having joined in with pre-season training this week, Josh was happy to get a deal done.

“I’m delighted to be here, just buzzing to get started and get the games going.

“I came here because I want to be at the top of the league pushing to win stuff, and to play as many games as possible and do as well as I can possibly do.”

Manager Rhys McCabe was equally pleased to get his man.

“Josh matches the description of what we’re wanting - he’s a big presence, he’s good with his feet and he’s got a good CV so far.

“We’re delighted to add Josh to the squad as we continue to build for the upcoming season.”
