Midfielder McGrattan checks in
We are pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Lewis McGrattan, who joins the Diamonds after leaving Greenock Morton.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder signed up at Cappielow in 2017 following a spell with Rangers, and has made over 100 appearances for the Greenock club - including four against Airdrie last season.
Comfortable in the centre of midfield or on either flank, Lewis will bring creativity and versatility to the Diamonds squad.
He told airdriefc.com: “My time at Morton came to an end, and I first heard of the initial interest from Airdrie - and to be honest it was something I wanted to jump at! I’m delighted to be here.
“Personally, I just want to play as many games as I can and enjoy my football again. I feel like when I do enjoy my football I can be a real asset to the team.
“I like to get on the ball and try to make stuff happen, and Airdrie are a side who like to pass the ball and that suits me. A play-off finish last year - and we’ll be looking to build on that.”
Manager Rhys McCabe added: “Lewis is a very technical player - I’ve played against him a few times and he was a player who I always thought would excel in our system and our style.
“He can play wide and centrally, and he’s good with both feet and gives us real quality on the ball. He’s someone who will add value to our team, with good experience for his age, and we’re very happy to have him on board.”
Welcome to the Diamonds, Lewis!
