We are delighted to announce the signing of title-winning midfielder Chris Mochrie, who joins Airdrie after leaving Dundee United earlier this summer.

Attacking midfielder Chris is comfortable in a number of forward areas, and will be hoping to make it a hat-trick of league medals after winning consecutive titles on loan at Dunfermline Athletic and with parent club Dundee United.

Chris told airdriefc.com: “I’m delighted! It took a wee while to get it over the line, but I’ve been in the last couple of days and really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to get going.

“I’ve played against Airdrie the last couple of seasons, and every game was tough. The way they play football, playing through the thirds, it’s something that I want to be a part of. Hopefully I can help the team with goals and assists.

“They had a really good season last season, so I think it’s just about trying to build on that. I want to come here, play more, and really establish myself.”

Manager Rhys McCabe was delighted to secure the services of the 21-year-old.

“I’ve been a big admirer of Chris for a number of years - having played against him first-hand, I know the qualities that he possesses.

“He’s been part of two title-winning sides, so he has good experience for someone so young. In terms of his technical ability and what he can bring to the team, he’s a real asset.

“He’s two-footed, he can create things in the final third, and ultimately now it’s about getting a run of games and hopefully adding numbers to our front-line.”
