Diamonds spread mental health message
Senior pupils at Airdrie Academy were paid a visit by representatives of the first team squad this week as Bryan Prunty, Liam McStravick, Aaron Reid and Ben Wilson joined in the school’s activities for National Mental Health Awareness day.
For the event, dubbed “Time to Talk Day”, the four Diamonds chatted with pupils in the SCQF level 7 Referee class, PE Teacher Mr Leckie, and the school’s Mental Health Ambassadors.
Sharing experiences picked up in the world of football, Bryan, Liam, Aaron and Ben spoke about the benefits of being open about our mental health, and of talking about how we feel. The importance of seeking help was discussed, as well as the different ways we can keep mentally well – like good quality sleep and hydration.
The boys stuck around to interact with other pupils during the morning interval… though they may have been swayed by the school’s charity Bake Sale for Maggie’s Cancer Care!
